This also took its toll during the NBA lockout, when they had to watch a number of their best players leave since they simply could not afford to keep them. It was during this time that the team let go of Tom Gugliotta and Stephon Marbury.

But the loss didn't hit the sales of Minnesota Timberwolves tickets since the team really began to buckle down and play hard. Even without a number of their best players, the team managed to play very gritty and hard basketball, particularly into the new millennium. In 2004, the team won its first title of by snagging a division title win. Today the team is looking to be a very strong force to reckon with on the court.
