The Top 25 Hottest Tickets in College Football Week 10
Austin, TX (PRWEB) October 12, 2007 -- Unpredictable. The only word used to describe the 2007 college football season. In reviewing the AP and USA Today polls, four of the current top 10 teams opened the year unranked, and three of the top 25 weren't even among the 47 teams to receive preseason AP votes. Despite the major changes in ranking, ticket demand reveals the schools with the most dedicated and passionate fans.
From Michigan to USC, tickets to schools with traditionally strong fan bases rank high among this week's list. Several games moved up on the list including Florida versus Florida State, Auburn versus Alabama and South Carolina versus Florida all with ticket prices increasing by $50. Despite the shake up in the polls, it's the traditional school rivalries that flood this week's top 25 list. Roughly half of the list is composed of classic rivalries.
"Team performances this season are shocking but fans will still rally behind their favorite teams despite drops in ranking," comments Randy Cohen, CEO of TicketCity. "Just take a look at three of the top 10 tickets in demand. It's the long standing rivalry between schools that is driving ticket demand."
The average ticket price for the following games proves tradition trumps ranking. Michigan versus Ohio State at $569, USC versus UCLA at $527, Auburn versus Alabama at $505 and even Texas versus Texas A&M at $349 are the going rates to attend the traditional rivalries.
"College football is synonymous with passionate fans," says Cohen. "But ticket demand this season proves that loyal fans remain so through thick and thin."
The top five games on the "Hottest Ticket" list are: Cal versus USC, Michigan versus Ohio State, Florida State at Florida, Alabama versus LSU and South Carolina versus Clemson. Only the first three of those games were ranked in the top 5 on last week's list. The remaining USC versus UCLA, Auburn vs Alabama, South Carolina versus Florida, Georgia versus Florida and LSU vs Auburn.
