WNBA Star Diana Taurasi, One of Basketball's Most Decorated Players, Launches Blog at Yardbarker.com

Emeryville, CA (PRWEB) September 7, 2007 -- Diana Taurasi, the All-Star guard who has spearheaded a remarkable turnaround and led the Phoenix Mercury into the WNBA Finals for the first time since 1998, has launched her personal blog at Yardbarker.com, the premier destination for unfiltered sports commentary by athletes and fans, it was announced today.

Armed with her trademark wit, Taurasi will share her experiences and provide an inside look into the finals and her life in the WNBA, overseas and off the court while interacting directly with the fans at www.yardbarker.com/users/dianataurasi. She joins an athlete blog network that includes NFL Pro Bowlers Donovan McNabb, Bart Scott and Isaac Bruce, MLB All Star pitcher John Lackey and future NBA stars Greg Oden and Michael Conley, among others.

"This has been a really fun season for us, we've been finding ways to win," Taurasi said. "Now we're in the WNBA Finals, exactly where we want to be. It's going to be a great series and I look forward to sharing the experience with the fans through my blog at Yardbarker.com."

Taurasi has brought success everywhere she has played. During college she led UConn to three NCAA titles and earned two Naismith Player of the Year Awards before helping the U.S. women's basketball team win gold at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. Following an 8-26 campaign in 2003, the Phoenix Mercury selected Taurasi with the first pick in the draft and the rebound began. In just three seasons, the 6-0 guard has made three All Star teams, earned Rookie of the Year honors, has been selected to the All WNBA First Team twice, led the League in scoring, set a single game scoring record and has now made her first trip to the WNBA Finals.

"Diana Taurasi is an ideal addition to our roster of star athlete bloggers," Yardbarker co-founder Pete Vlastelica said. "Not only is she a champion at the top of her game, but her personality makes her the perfect ambassador for the WNBA to the blogosphere. I can't wait to read Diana's insights into this year's Finals, and beyond."

Coaching Basketball Is Not Always Fun And Games
I wound up volunteering to coach basketball, a game I new nearly nothing about. Shortly after I wound up with the job, a parent approached me and asked what sort of coaching style I was going to use. After I managed to clear up the blank look on my face and stammer out some lame answer, I drove quickly to the privacy of my own home to avoid any more questions, and thus, not let my inexperience be known, for I knew after that question that I was in way over my head.
